October 22, 2001 – Will is an inter-industry marketing project initiated in 1999 by Toyota, which now has seven member companies offering a wide range of products under the unified Will brand name. The first Will car was the Will Vi launched in the Japanese market in early 2000, and it was followed by the Will VS a year later.

The Vi was based on the Yaris platform, and the VS on the Corolla plaform. Now the third model is going to the market. The Will VC to be displayed as a concept car at the 35th Tokyo Motor Show is expected to go on sale early next year. As in the case of Vi and VS as well as other various Will products, the Will VC was designed in mind with the Will concept of " a sense of fun and authenticity". But the VC is aiming to a specific customer segment. The keyword of the VC is "Cyber". The design is intended to create a "cybercapsule", which will be inviting to young couples and nurture affection that increase with use,Toyota says.

About its exterior Toyota explains "The Will VC's futuristic commuter styling features a rounded cabin contrasting with strong fender lines". It may appear futuristic to some, but some may find it lacking a harmony in lines and surfaces. The VC design could be one of the most controversial at the 35th Tokyo Motor Show.

In the interior Toyota's next-generation telematics, called G-Book, and other functions are grouped at the circular center console. G-Book can access via the internet to the GAZOO center where entertainment and information contents are stored. G-Book's "partnership AI" function customizes contents provided to the driver by refferring to previous requests. A 6.5-inch full-color touch-panel screen enhances operational convenience.
