| Recognizing major contributions to the world of automotive design, winners were announced January 9th at the second annual Eyes On Design/Detroit event honoring the automotive designers who have created the most significant automotive designs on display at the 2002 North American International Auto Show. |

Held at the Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Michigan, more than 200 automotive designers and executives from throughout the world attended. Honorary Chairman for the event was Mr. Roberto Piatti, design director of Stile Bertone of Turin, Italy.
Automotive design awards were presented in eight different design categories. An award was presented to a design team in each category. In June, each winning team will honor a fellow team member with the Most Significant Contributor Award at the Eyes on Design Auto Exhibit, Sunday June 9, 2002 to be held at the DaimlerChrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
Judges for the awards were automotive design professionals, suppliers to the design industry and academics. Eyes on Design / Detroit General Chairman Dick Ruzzin, chairman of Dick Ruzzin Design, made the presentations.

Eyes on Design/Detroit is a program of the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology (DIO) and an extension of the Eyes on Design Auto Exhibit organized each year by the DIO to celebrate the world of automotive design.
To commemorate the event, Automotive Industries Magazine included in its January 2002 issue a special insert focused on automotive design, the technologies that shape it and the people with the vision to make it happen.

The Eyes on Design/Detroit event benefits the DIO, a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1972. Eyes on Design is its primary source of revenues for the research, education and support group programs that enhance the independence of the visually impaired.
