Chrysler Pacifica
Chrysler revealed the production version of its all-new 'segment-busting' 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, which represents a new vehicle segment Chrysler calls 'sports tourer.' The Pacifica will go on sale in the spring of 2003.
Pacifica is a MPV/wagon crossover six-passenger vehicle with step-across entry and exit, 'first-class' seating, an in-instrument cluster navigation system, hands-free communication and a power liftgate.
"As promised, the production version of the Chrysler Pacifica remains true to the concept that we revealed earlier this year, a concept that generated tremendous consumer interest," said Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO of the Chrysler Group.
"There is no other vehicle like Pacifica in the marketplace. With its low step-in height, first-class seating, three rows of seats, and car-like handling, there's no question that the Chrysler Pacifica will redefine the large vehicle market segment in much the same way that Chrysler PT Cruiser revolutionized the small vehicle market."
Production of the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica will begin in early 2003. While Pacifica will be built in the same plant as Chrysler and Dodge minivans, the vehicle will not be built on any one of the company's short- or long-wheelbase minivan platforms. Pacifica will be built on its own new, unique platform, but will use existing corporate components, including the 3.5-liter V6 engine that powers the Chrysler 300M.
