September 24, 2002 - The new Fiat Stilo SW is longer and higher than the 3 and 5 door versions, creating one of the most versatile vehicles in it's class. This higher position of the driver's seating plane in relation to the ground gives easier access and a clearer view of the road. According to Fiat, the SW continues the traits of the 5-door version: in-car comfort, roominess, safety, versatility and rationality.

The new car is set to be one of the most spacious cars in the segment at 4.51 metres long, 1.75 metres wide and 1.57 metres in height with a wheelbase of 2.60 m. The 510 litre luggage compartment can be expanded to 1480 with the rear seats folded down.

The exterior gives an impression of sturdiness and solidity with a wide front end with a broad, protective bumper that conveys a perception of prestige and safety. The luggage compartment is more accessible than average, whether approached from the passenger compartment or from the rear, due to the low load threshold. The rear window opens independently of the tailgate

The interior icorporates some aspects of an MPV into a normal station wagon. The sliding split rear seat reclines and tilts independently. Other assets include a ski tunnel, various closed storage compartments and a front seat that folds down to form a table to accommodate long loads or act as a work surface.

The new model offers a range of four power units: two petrol and two Common Rail turbodiesel that range from 59 to 98 kW (80-133 bhp) and display different attributes, all with 5-speed gearboxes.
