Feb 23, 2004 Gioachino Acampora, an emerging Italian architect and designer, based in Milano and operating under the insigna of Castagna-Milano, will present a range of trend setting 'Mini-wagon' at the Geneva Motor Show. Although it is built from the trend setting Mini, his mini-wagons do not carry the Mini logo but rather that of Castagna Milano one of the most famous Italian coachbuilders of the past century that Acampora is keen to revitalize.
Castagnas Mini-wagon are 250mm longer than the original car they are built from, and they are ready for the road in a variety of 'style' tailor-made to the customers request. Acampora, who spends half of his time designing buildings, has in fact invested time and money into the Mini-wagon project after he realised that his passion for the Mini is shared by many car enthusiasts. In fashion-conscious Milan the Mini is so popular that there is a strong demand for very special Mini. Among the celebrities that already have one of his cars is famous fashion designer Missoni who ordered one to his own specifications.
The Missoni Castagna Mini Wagon is one of those to be exhibited at the show. Another special vehicle has been styled in old Clubman style and called 'Woody'. It will be presented in Geneva next to yet a 'MiniSUV' bodystyle, with bigger wheels and taller suspension. Very intriguing and probably a preview of the Mini Shooting-Brake BMW might be unveiling sometime next year.
