GM Concepts

General Motors ended the day with a high energy display of five concept vehicles, most already previewed to the media. The music was frenetic - featuring the Faithless hit 'Can't get no sleep', an appropriate theme song for the GM designers as they worked many late nights to complete all these vehicles in time for this debut - the light and video show was dazzling in the best auto show spirit. Rick Wagoner, President and CEO, and Ron Zarrella, President, GM North America, opened the event with a fireside chat highlighting the strengths of GM’s products and concepts.

First up for the concept cars was the Sabia from GM Brazil. This small pickup-sedan crossover had the Opel inspired look of taught surfaces and hard creases. Chief Designer Dave Rand led development of the Sabia which may be destined for global markets including Europe and Latin America.

The Cadillac Vizon is the latest in a series of Cadillac concepts that reinforce the new art and science theme of the brand. The Vizon blends the attributes of SUVs and sportwagons into yet another combination of crossover vehicle. Led by Tom Kearns, the Vizon design evolves the new Cadillac image that began with Evoq.
