Fachhochschule Pforzheim - Transportation Design Forum
The first German Transportation Design Forum was held July 13-14, at the Fachhochschule Pforzheim, Germany. Six international design schools were invited to present innovative and futuristic design proposals for an individual and a public transport vehicle:
- University of Northumbria at Newcastle, UK
- Tsinghua University, Academy of Art and Design, Peking/VR China
- Musashino Art University, Tokyo, Japan
- Monash University, Victoria, Australia
- Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, USA
- Hochschule Pforzheim, Bereich Gestaltung, Transporation design, Germany
The forum design presentations were held on July 14, with representatives from the participating schools presenting their work to a panel of designers from several companies, and media representatives.The event also included an exhibition of work by the graduating students, and theme projects by 4th-7th semester students:

- 4th semester TD: A vehicle concieved for a designer, architect or musician
- 5th semester TD: A vehicle for Germany
- 5th semester ID: Paris, Amsterdam, Venice - A transport system for the waterways of a metropolis
- 7th semester TD: 'It can only be a Honda' (Interior)
The exhibition of graduating and mid-course students showed an impressive range of design directions, and demonstrated the schools strengths in form development and real-world automotive design. The presentation was hosted by outgoing Professor James Kelly, who is leaving to head the BMW Technik studio in Munich, and introducing the new head of the Transportation course, Jan Fellstrom, formerly of Target Design.
