Feb 15, 2002 - Mazda has released a new micro mini vehicle called Spiano. Featuring a distinctive profile and rounded-edge-design exterior with a comfortable and spacious interior, the Spiano goes on sale today at Mazda Autozam dealerships throughout Japan. This is the sixth micro-mini vehicle offered by Autozam.
Spiano features a distinctive exterior design expressing warmth and functionality based on rectangular lines with rounded edges. The upright glasshouse sits atop a slab-like lower body, with a strong shoulder feature line that runs downward at both ends of the vehicle.
The Spiano interior is a unique and classical design, offering "a homely feel and comfort as if you are in your own room." While the Spiano can fit into most Japanese tower parking stations, it still offers a roomy interior. Effective interior length is 1655mm, which is class-leading among micro-mini vehicles. An open and comfortable interior environment is provided through the upright windows and pillars.
Targeting mainly youthful and sophisticated women, Spiano offers nine body colors and a warm design flows through the interior, with themes borrowed from the home interior. The instrument panel is based on white, emphasizing the image of being fashionable and classic. There are two seat colors: Blue (original for Mazda models) and Apricot, matching with the body colors.
'Spiano' is Italian for 'a spacious place'. The monthly sales target is 650 units.
