July 7, 2003 - Project entries for the Interior Motives: Student Design Awards 2003 received from students of transportation and product design from around the world are now being evaluated by the design industry judging panel, which includes:
- Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar Cars
- Bill Fluharty, Vice President Industrial Design,
North America, Johnson Controls Inc.
- Shiro Nakamura, Senior Vice President and Head
of Design, Nissan Motor Company
- Peter Pfeiffer, Senior Vice President Design,
DaimlerChrysler AG
- Roberto Piatti, Managing Director, Stile Bertone
- Rus Shafer, Director, Industrial Design, Intier
Automotive.
A shortlist will be produced before final judging takes place in August. Award finalists and winners will be announced at the King Kamehameha Club in Frankfurt, Germany on September 10, 2003. The King Kamehameha Club is one of the oldest and best-known Jazz clubs in Germany and has a striking purpose built modern interior that matches the aesthetic aspirations of the design community.
At the awards ceremony, top automotive industry personnel including automaker and supplier designers, senior management, and independent industrial designers and academics will be in attendance to meet the next generation of interior designers and congratulate the winners of the most outstanding interior design projects.
The winners of each category will be presented with a specially designed 'Interior Motives' trophy together with a check for $2000. A further check for $10,000 will be presented to the overall winner.
